In this book, a novel atmospheric water harvesting technology assisted by desiccant wheels is introduced and investigated. In Chapter 1, latest atmospheric water harvesting technologies in literature were summarized and the performances were compared. In Chapter 2, humidification mechanisms and numerical models of the desiccant wheel were presented. In Chapter 3, air humidification process using desiccant wheels as well as the effective thermal energy utilization configurations and strategies were investigated. In Chapter 4, performance analyses and optimizations of the desiccant wheel-assisted atmospheric water harvesting systems were carried out based on ideal thermodynamic cycles. In Chapters 5~6, performance of the system that combines multi-stage desiccant wheels were discussed using active and passive heating and cooling sources, respectively. In Chapter 7, performance analyses and optimization studies of such system were carried out under global ambient conditions. In Chapter 8, economic performance of the atmospheric water harvesting system were discussed when it is applied in humid climate regions.
